Designation[]

The uniform set is known as "Modello Roma 75". "Roma" is Italian for "Rome" and "75" likely stands for 1975, although the uniform was introduced in 1971. The Modello Roma 75 is also incorrectly known as M65 parka[15].

History[]

Prior to the early 1970s the Italian army used the M1955 uniform as its main battledress. As the old M1955 uniform was quite outdated by the 1970s, the Modello Roma 75 was introduced in 1971. The new uniform became the main uniform of the Italian army until the 1990s. The Modello Roma 75 was manufactured by the Italian companies Cotonificio (cotton mill) Rossi Vicenza and Manifatture Cotoniere Meridionali.
