The M41 Telogreika is a winter suit of Soviet origin.[2][3]

Overview[]

The M41 Telogreika is a padded jacket intended for cold weather. Its most distinctive feature is the collar featuring collar tabs, an element which was omitted in the later M43 model. The jacket features either four or five front buttons for fastening the jacket. There are also two simple hip pockets. The sleeve cuffs are also fastened by a single button on each cuff.

History[]

In 1935 a new standardized M35 Vatnik was introduced for winter use.

A procedure for the procurement of a new winter jacket was specified with the order of the People's Commissariat of December 15, 1938 and the Resolution of the Council of People's Commissars and the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) No. 129 - 55, dated January 18, 1941.

By order of the People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR No. 283, dated August 25, 1941, a wadded quilted jacket was accepted for supply. Wadded jacket, quilted, with a stand-up collar.[4]

The new M41 Telogreika was immediately put into service with the Red Army during the German invasion of the USSR in the winter of 1941-42.[5]

After World War II the M41 Telogreika was used by the Korean People's Army during the Korean War, likely supplied by the USSR.[6]
