The Kanady vzor 62 (Czech for Combat boots pattern 1962) are combat boots of Czechoslovak origin.[2]

Overview[]

The Kanady vz. 62 are derived from the vz. 60 boots and are nearly identical to them being made of leather and having high top cuffs with double buckles and with seven lace holes with eyelets. Their major difference is firstly in different leather color (brown instead of the usual black) as well as different, that is, simplified rubber soles without the usual reinforcement screws underneath.

History[]

The Kanady vz. 62 were a modification of the vz. 60 boots, introduced in 1962; two years later than standard vz. 60 and were intended exclusively for officers of ČSLA, which explains their relatively rare appearance when compared to classic vz. 60 boots and what also indicates that the vz. 60 were also used and worn by officers for those first two years (1960 to 1962). Also, like their successor, the vz.72 boots, they are also often incorrectly called vz. 60 boots.

They were being manufactured exactly for ten years; from 1962 until 1972, when they were, along with the ordinary vz. 60 boots, replaced in service for Czechoslovakian People's Army by new vz. 72 boots, which became their first universal combat boots due to the fact that they were being used by both officers and rest of the soldiers (non commissioned officers as well as conscripts and reservists).
