The Italian M42 Helmet is a steel helmet of Italian origin.
Overview[]
The M42 helmet consists of a steel helmet shell and affixed leather suspension liner. It features a forehead pad constructed from leather with padding. A leather chinstrap is connected to the helmet with four rivets.
Variants[]
M42/60[]
The M42/60 is a post war alteration of the M42 produced starting in the 1960s. The chin strap was replaced with one made of cotton twill with a leather chincup. The chinstrap connected in three places to metal fasteners. A foam pad was added in the center of the liner with a cut out where the helmet size was inscribed.
