The IOTV is a piece of personal body armour fielded by the United States. it consists of a core vest with soft and hard elements, together protecting above the fourth class of the NIJ, and protection for the upper arms and legs, as well as throat and lap, protecting to approximately the second class of the NIJ.

The IOTV was an evolution of the previous Outer Tactical Vest, which improved modularity. The vest itself is very similar to the previous vest, in fact.
The IOTV was fielded alongside the ESAPI armoured plates, providing an operator with protection against a marksman's bullet.
