The Gorka uniform manufactured by the Russian company BARS (Boevoe ARmejskoe Snarjazhenie, Russian: Боевое АРмейское Снаряжение meaning Combat Army Equipment) is one of the many derivatives of the famous Soviet gorka suit. The suit is designed to be loose fitting and is windproof and waterproof. Following the traditional gorka concept, the BARS gorka is also made of tent canvas, although it is a modernised design including reinforcing pads. It is a multiseason garment and can be used in various climates.
The most distinctive feature of the Gorka-2 are its four large frontal pockets on the jacket. The suit is fastened by a zipper and also has a collar-stand with a pocket with a zipper and a hood in it, two-layer back flap, protecting the shoulder area from getting wet, ergonomic folds on the sleeves. The volume at the waist and bottom is pulled together by a cord.
The trousers are of overalls type with the apron and straps being of elastic bands. The trousers have five pockets, two frontal pockets on the thighs, one on the apron and likely two on the rear side; they also have rear reinforcement pad.
The Gorka-3 lacks the chest pockets of Gorka-2 and has two tilted hip pockets. It is fastened by buttons and has sleeve pockets closed by velcro flaps and one internal pocket. The jacket has a drawstring hem and hood region with cord locks to seal out wind and moisture, and the hood is equipped with a bill to offer shade from the sun and to shield from rain. There are elastic cuff closures and elastic bands at the arms to prevent the sail effect of strong gusts of wind.
The trousers feature a button fly, belt loops, suspender loops and an elasticized waist. The trouser legs have elastic cuffs, and bands at calf level to prevent sail effect from winds. The legs feature an internal gaiter with ties that can be worn inside the boots to seal out sand, gravel, snow, or other debris.
All wear points at the elbows, knees, shoulders, and hood are reinforced with contrasting panels to break up the wearers outline and offer increased weather and wear resistance.
