  • 1 Analysis

    • 1.3 Arms
    • 1.4 Legs

The Panzergrenadiers are a unit featured in the video game Company of Heroes 2. They depict generic Waffen-SS panzergrenadiers, however, their appearance is anachronistic as they carry a panzerschreck rocket (in service post 1943) and wear the Erbsenmuster camouflage (introduced in 1944) thus making them more appropriate for the late 1944 period of the war rather than the game's timeframe.

Russian special forces can be first seen in the mission Silent Talon, guarding a military-grade weapon cache alongside other RGF troops. In this mission, they can be seen wearing winter camouflage.  They appear later on in the game alongside RGF troops. They have more armor equipped than other troops but this is purely cosmetic.

OpFor Loadout (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare)

OpFor is a generic revolutionary Arabic/Middle Eastern militant organization featured in the video game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, they are active in 2011.

They appear to be the military forces of a fictional Arabic country and stage a coup against the country's president. In the introductory speech of the game is mentioned that the country was formerly a monarchy "colliding with the west", that would explain some of their western gear such as US helmets and British vests and gloves. However, it seems the country also had close ties with Russia as they are armed with old Soviet weaponry and equipment.

It seems that the OpFor was inspired by the Iraqi army and the various insurgencies during the Iraq War, but since the game was released in…

Russian Ground Forces Loadout (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3)

  • 1 Analysis
    • 1.1 Headgear
    • 1.2 Torso
    • 1.3 Arms
    • 1.4 Legs

The Russian Ground Forces (also known as Spetsnaz in multiplayer) are the land forces of the military of the fictional Ultranationalist Russian government in the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, they are active in the year 2016.

The philosophy in their equipment design is very retro-futuristic as they are depicted with very old and obsolete gear such as Russian uniforms from the 1990s and bizzarely American combat boots from the 1960s mixed with more contemporary gear being used in 2016. This is probably intentional stylistic choice due to the whole 1990s-ization of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 setting as the game heavily draws inspiration from the movie Black Hawk Dawn and the Sierra Leon…

  • 1 Analysis
    • 1.1 Headgear

    • 1.3 Arms
    • 1.4 Legs

The Spetsnaz is a special branch of the Soviet Armed Forces featured in the video game Call of Duty: Black Ops. In game they are depicted with authentic Soviet and Russian gear, however, most of their equipment is historically anachronistic. The game is set in the 1960s, but they wear equipment from the 1970s, 1980s and even the 1990s. Also, oddly they have American gear such as grenades and combat boots, and Czechoslovakian rucksack.

Shadow Company Loadout (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2)

The Shadow Company is a fictional PMC unit in the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, they are active in the year 2016. Being a special operations unit they are equipped with the latest weapons and equipment available. However, strangely they wear black uniforms in Afghanistan, which is an odd camouflaging choice. Ultranationalists Loadout (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare)

The Ultranationalists (also known as Spetsnaz in multiplayer) are fictional Russian nationalistic and paramilitary organization featured in the video game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, they are active in the year 2011.

Being a guerrilla militia they are equipped with a mix of old Soviet and more contemporary Russian gear. It seems that their nationalistic ideology is not ethnically exclusive as many of them wear keffiyehs, this could mean that their nationalism is based around the Soviet multiculturalism, however, the keffiyeh is typical for the Arabic culture and not for the central Asian Islamic culture.

The following is a list of the equipment used by the Ultranationalists in game (the gear varies between the different character models):

Russian Airborne Troops Loadout (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2)

The Russian Airborne Troops (also known as Spetsnaz in multiplayer) are an elite unit serving under the fictional Ultranationalist Russian government in the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, they are active in the year 2016.

As an elite army branch, they are well equipped. However, they are strangely designed with many odd pieces of equipment. Firstly, they are depicted with a Ukrainian helmet (Kaska 2M Helmet) instead of Russian one (this is possibly due to developer's mistake or intentionall design choice). They wear obsolete equipment such as GP-5 gas masks. The most interesting item in their design is the fictional red/black/gray/white camouflaged uniforms. The camouflage itself is named "Urban Camouflage", and while it is fictional…

OpFor Loadout (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2)

OpFor represents a generic Arabic/Middle Eastern/Islamist paramilitary organization featured in the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, they are active in 2016.

Being a non-regular army they do not sport sophisticated gear such as helmets and others. However, they are equipped with obsolete American equipment, such as ALICE load bearing systems, woodland camouflaged BDUs and MOLLE vests, this is somewhat plausible as these items are available worldwide as surplus militaria.

The following is a list of the equipment used by the OpFor in game (the gear varies between the different character models):
